John Askins has been named the new director of the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud, Department of Financial Services. Askins has more than 30 years experience working for the division. In his new role he is responsible for supervising 155 sworn law enforcement officers, managers and administrators, and 48 non-sworn, civilian support staff members. The Division of Insurance Fraud is charged with investigating various forms of insurance fraud relating to health, life, auto, property and workers' compensation insurance policies. It made over 800 insurance fraud-related arrests in the last fiscal year. It maintains a web site at www.MyFloridaCFO.com/fraud.
