Conference Preview: Go With the Wind

In anticipation of WIND 2010, Claims spoke with Michelle Griffin, executive director of the Windstorm Insurance Network, who talked about what attendees can expect and provided insight about the evolving organization.

This month the Annual Windstorm Insurance Conference returns to the Sunshine State. Hosted by the Windstorm Insurance Network, the 11th annual conference will take place on Jan. 25-28, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront in Jacksonville, Fla. It will provide an educational forum for professionals across all segments of the windstorm insurance industry to network and explore crucial topics. In anticipation of WIND 2010, Claims Christina Bramlet spoke with Michelle Griffin, executive director of the Windstorm Insurance Network, who talked about what attendees can expect and provided insight about the evolving organization, which strives to work in the best interest of its members and the insurance community as a whole.

It was a mild year for hurricanes. What does that mean for your organization and for windstorm claim adjusters?

Although it was a mild year for hurricane activity, our members are still involved the 2004 and 2005 storm seasons because of the amount of appraisals and lawsuits. Many are working as appraisers and umpires, in addition to the claim activities they handle on a daily basis.
