Bonding between a father and son often involves a football game, fishing, or maybe a weekend golf trip, but rarely does father/son jail time come into play. Ruben Andrade, Sr. and his son, Ruben Andrade, Jr., must have envisioned a clean getaway when they began plotting vandalism with Cristina Ramirez back in Sept. 2008.

The statements that Ramirez and Andrade, Jr. gave the insurance company were simple enough: Andrade, Sr.'s 2005 Chrysler 300 had been vandalized, including theft of the wheels and tires, at the Andrade residence during the night. As a result, a vehicle loss claim was filed, with a total potential loss of $13,950.

The Sacramento Auto Fraud Task Force found the truth behind the story when it was discovered that Andrade had conspired with his son, Ramirez, and Gustavo Hernandez, to commit insurance fraud. Hernandez, who was responsible for the theft of the wheels and tires, was arrested on June 19, 2009, at his residence. Ramirez, Andrade Sr., and Jr. turned themselves in to authorities the following day, and were booked at the Sacramento County Jail for some quality time.
