A National Association of Insurance Commissioners climate risk disclosure survey for insurers serves "nakedly ideological ends," an insurance trade group representative charged in a published paper.

Robert Detlefsen, vice president of public policy for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, said the survey forces insurers to answer questions about their commitment to pursuing an anti-global warming agenda.

The NAIC adopted the climate risk disclosure survey in March in a plenary session during the organization's 2009 Spring Meeting.
