Erie, Pa.-based auto insurer Erie Indemnity Company said Marcia A. Dall is its new chief financial officer, replacing Philip A. Garcia, who is leaving the company after 28 years of service.
Ms. Dall was previously CFO for the health care division of Cigna Corp. health services company, and before that was a corporate officer for Genworth Financial Inc. serving as CFO for international and U.S. mortgage insurance segments, the company said.
Erie President and Chief Executive Officer Terrence W. Cavanaugh said Ms. Dall "has extensive and varied experience, and will be a true asset to our executive team."
The June 2008 issue of CFO Magazine listed Ms. Dall as number five on their list of 25 Women to Watch, the magazine's "pipeline of women poised to become Fortune 500 CFOs."
Mr. Garcia, who has been Erie CFO for the past 11 years, will remain with Erie until April 30 to help with the transition of his successor, under an agreement reached last June.
According to Highline Data, a subsidiary of National Underwriter parent company Summit Business Media, Erie is the 14th largest automobile insurer in the United States and the 20th largest property-casualty insurer based on direct written premium.
