When Orlandis Moore was involved in an automobile accident as a passenger and subsequently missed eight weeks of work, he did what most people would do: file a lost-wage claim with his insurance company.
As with all fraud stories, however, that was just the beginning. According to the Arkansas Department of Insurance's Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford, Moore told Progressive Insurance that his eight weeks of missed work was worth $12,500. That adds up to an annual salary of $150,000. However, on Moore' most recent tax return, he listed his income at a paltry $15,000. Guess that extra zero was just wishful thinking.
Moore was found guilty earlier this month and given three years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and probation fees of $35 per month was well as all court costs.
