American International Group announced appointments of a new chief executive and chief operating officer for its AIG Environmental unit which has lately seen defections by several executives.

The company said Russell Johnston has been named president and CEO of AIG Environmental and Kimberly Hanna has been named executive vice president and COO and will report to Mr. Johnston.

AIG Environmental, a unit of AIG Commercial Insurance, is a pollution liability provider. Mr. Johnston will replace Joseph Boren, who has left the company. He will report directly to John Q Doyle, president and CEO of AIG Commercial Insurance, the company said.
