In an effort to speed the claim process after several devastating tornadoes last week, New Hampshire's Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny will begin authorizing emergency licenses to property/casualty claim adjusters.

In a letter posted on the state's insurance department web site, Sevigny addressed P/C insurers directly:

"The recent tornados in New Hampshire have prompted me, under my emergency powers, to authorize the issuance of emergency licenses to property and casualty adjusters. I am writing New Hampshire property and casualty carriers to encourage you to take advantage of this order. I urge you to place additional adjusters in New Hampshire if needed to help expeditiously process the claims that have arisen. This is an opportunity for New Hampshire's P&C carriers to demonstrate excellent customer service through immediate response to the devastation that occurred here in New Hampshire. I appreciate your efforts to assist those New Hampshire residents and businesses affected by last week's storms."
