The automation committee of an association of managing general agents has revamped one of its focus groups, seeking to tackle head on the issue of electronic exchange of information between retailers and surplus lines producers.

What was originally the "XML" focus group of the American Association of Managing General Agents' Automation Committee has been redefined and renamed as the Retail Agent/E&S Working Group, according to one of its leaders, John Deibler, who is director of customer innovation for Scottsdale Insurance in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"We're going to look at all possible opportunities to enhance workflow" between retailers and MGAs, he said. With members of the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd. involved in the effort as well, the focus group is actually looking at electronic information exchange between retailers and wholesalers as well as the exchange of information between retailers and MGAs.
