Claims News Service, June 27, 4:20 p.m. EST — Despite massive flooding in the Midwest, insurance executives report that the amount of insurance claims being filed are relatively low.
"There have not been a tremendous number of claims in Iowa as not many homeowners had flood insurance," said Randy Horden, the national catastrophe director for TM Mayfield.
State Farm reported only 613 flood insurance claims in Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The majority — 451 flood claims — occurred in Iowa, the state hit hardest by the flooding.
