Studying overseas is an unparalleled opportunity for students to learn about different cultures, gain perspectives from other parts of the world, and deepen their understanding of subject matter grounded in foreign countries.

Unfortunately, it's also an opportunity for things to go wrong when students are far from home–without the safety net of family, institution and familiar sources of assistance.

The risks are many and varied: Students may be injured or killed, they may cause damage to the property of others, or they may be threatened by political instability, natural disasters or endemic disease.
