W.R. Berkley Corporation has named William E. Haines as president and chief executive officer of Carolina Casualty Insurance Company.

Carolina Casualty is a W.R. Berkley company based in Jacksonville, Fla., that services the commercial transportation industry.

Mr. Haines has served as a regional vice president of Admiral Insurance Company, another W.R. Berkley Corporation member company, for the last six years, according to the company. He has over 30 years of experience in the property-casualty insurance industry.

He succeeds William F. Murray, who will now become president of Regional Excess Underwriters, LLC, W.R. Berkley said.

Mr. Murray served as Carolina Casualty's president and CEO since 2005 and has been with W.R. Berkley Corporation since 2003. He was president of the excess division of Admiral Insurance Company before moving over to Carolina Casualty.
