A Raleigh, N.C. man was charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretense after his soon-to-be ex-wife reported the fraudulent claim to the insurance company.

Stephen Michael Williams, 50, submitted an insurance claim and collected $9,000 for his wife's diamond ring, which he claimed was lost while boating on Jordan Lake. After Williams collected the insurance payout, his wife allegedly told the insurance company that the ring was never lost, and that Williams just wanted to collect a payout.

Surprisingly, the two are now in the process of getting divorced.
