The Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority (IFPA) recently released its top 13 insurance fraud case list for 2007, which reviews the year's most colorful fraud cases as investigated by the IFPA.

The organization reports that their law enforcement units have been responsible for more than 3,773 arrests and more than 2,272 convictions, bringing 441 individuals to justice for insurance fraud just in 2006 alone.

“There are many different types of insurance fraud and a variety of people involved in these kinds of scams,” said Ralph Burnham, executive director of the IFPA, in a release. “Some individuals know what they are doing is wrong, but there are others who don't realize that when they are padding claims or filing false workers' compensation forms, they could end up in jail.”
