As he enters his second decade as CIO of Amerisure Insurance, Frank Petersmark marvels at how far IT has progressed since he joined the company in the late 1980s.

"After several years of pain on everyone's part, IT is at the table for everything," Petersmark says. "We are viewed as a key enabler to improving business processes, optimization, and integration with our customers. IT is in a really strong position to do that now."

Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Mich., Amerisure provides property/casualty insurance and employment-related services through 10 core service centers in the midwestern and southern United States. The company employs approximately 800 people; close to 85 work in IT. Direct written premiums in 2007 are expected to be about $680 million.
