Bermuda-based Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd. said Scott Carmilani, its president and chief executive officer, was named chairman of the board effective Jan. 1.
Michael Morrison, the former chairman, will continue to serve as a director. Mr. Carmilani will remain in his current position as president and CEO.
Mr. Carmilani became a director in 2003 after joining Allied World as executive vice president in 2002. He was named president and CEO in 2004.
In addition, Bart Friedman was named lead independent director effective Jan 1.
Through its subsidiaries, Allied World provides global insurance and reinsurance solutions.
