The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), Park Ridge, Ill., has named James E. Rogers, CLU, CFP, of Vancouver, British Columbia, President of the 2007-2008 MDRT Executive Committee. Joining Rogers on the Executive Committee are: Immediate Past President Philip E. Harriman, CLU, ChFC; First Vice President Walton W. Rogers, CLU, ChFC; Second Vice President Guy E. Baker, CLU, MSFS; and Secretary Julian H. Good Jr., CLU, ChFC.
Rogers' position as MDRT President became effective Sept. 1, 2007, and is the culmination of his five-year term on the MDRT Executive Committee, which he began as Secretary in 2002. He is only the third non-U.S. member to be on the MDRT Executive Committee in the association's 80-year history, and the second Canadian to serve as President.
"I am honored and humbled to accept your nomination as MDRT President," said Rogers to the 6,500 members in the audience at the 2007 MDRT Annual Meeting in Denver, Colo. "MDRT has motivated me to be the best I can be, both personally and professionally, and I am looking forward to serving you as President. It is an honor to give back to an organization that has given me so much."
As President, Rogers will spend the next 12 months traveling around the globe spreading the MDRT word. His Presidential platform includes ensuring MDRT represents professionals who are at the top of the industry in their respective countries; looking at ways to support formal education; making better use of electronic communication, including redesigning MDRT's Web site; and keeping current with members' needs by continuing to provide tools for members' Baby Boomer clients through the MDRT Boomertirement program.
MDRT President James E. Rogers, CLU, CFP Rogers is a 34-year MDRT member and a 25-time qualifier of MDRT's highest level of membership -- Top of the Table.
Rogers is chair of Rogers Group Financial, a 51-person, independent financial advisory and investment counseling firm located in Vancouver. He earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and a master's degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver.
He has held many volunteer leadership positions in the Canadian insurance and financial services industry, as a past chair of the Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (2000-2001) and the Financial Planners Standards Council Regulatory Committee.
Active in his community, Rogers has served on the boards of St. Paul's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital Foundation, Vancouver College and The United Way. A former member of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Senate, he is also a past member of the UBC Alumni Association and is a current board member of St. Marks College. He is also currently a guest lecturer at Simon Fraser University Graduate School of Business and a guest lecturer at the University of British Columbia department of economics.

Members of the 2007-2008 MDRT Executive Committee have held many leadership roles within MDRT, the industry, and their local communities. Joining Rogers on the MDRT Executive Committee are:
MDRT Immediate Past President Philip E. Harriman, CLU, ChFC Harriman, of Falmouth, Maine, is MDRT's Immediate Past President. He has been an MDRT member since 1983, and currently has eight Top of the Table and four Court of the Table honors. He has served three times as a Divisional Vice President, and served as a Chair and member of numerous MDRT committees. His support of MDRT also includes being an Excalibur Knight of the MDRT Foundation, the charitable arm of MDRT. He's a member of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting, the National Association of Securities Dealers, a past executive committee member of the Main Estate Planning Council, and he was the 2000 recipient of the J. Putnam Stevens Award for his outstanding contributions to the life insurance profession. Harriman's civic involvement includes four terms in the Maine Senate and serving on numerous community boards.
MDRT First Vice President Walton W. Rogers, CLU, ChFC Rogers, of Annapolis, Md., is a 33-year MDRT member, and a three-time Court of the Table qualifier. He has served as a member or Chair of 25 MDRT committees and task forces and has been an active volunteer for the MDRT Foundation. A Platinum Knight-level donor to the Foundation, he most recently served as Vice President of the MDRT Foundation and was a member of the Foundation Board of Trustees for three years. He also has participated in several major activities of the MDRT Foundation, including the Habitat for Humanity home build and many Phonathons. In the industry, Rogers has served twice as president of the Annapolis Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and he is a 15-time recipient of Baltimore's Agency Leader Award. Rogers is active in his community as a past president of the Annapolis Rotary Club and the Annapolis Woodworkers Guild. He also is a six-year veteran of the Maryland Air National Guard.
MDRT Second Vice President Guy E. Baker, CLU, MSFS Baker, of Irvine, Calif., is a 37-year MDRT member with 29 Top of the Table qualifications. He has served in many leadership positions within MDRT, including twice as a member of Management Council and as a member of the Top of the Table Advisory Board. In addition, he is an Excalibur Knight of the MDRT Foundation and served the MDRT Foundation as its President in 2000. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting and the Orange County Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors board of directors. Baker has presented at the MDRT Annual Meeting 12 times and has written hundreds of articles for industry publications and several books.
MDRT Secretary Julian H. Good Jr., CLU, ChFC Good, of New Orleans, La., is MDRT's Secretary and a 24-year member of the Round Table with three Court of the Table honors. He has served in many leadership positions within MDRT, including three times as a member of Management Council, MDRT's governing body, as the 1997 Communications, 2001 Membership Administration and 2004 Business and Educational Services Divisional Vice President. He has also served as a committee chair seven times. In addition, Good is a three-time MDRT Annual Meeting speaker, and a Gold Knight of the MDRT Foundation. Locally, he is a past president of the Greater New Orleans Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and past president of the New Orleans chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals. He is a current board member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council and is a member of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting.
