Travelers announced today that the insurance company is teaming up with a nonprofit organization to provide low-income residents with an educational CD-ROM to help them make homes they own or purchase safer.

The insurer said the interactive disks will be given out by Travelers Home Safety in partnership with the NeighborWorks Insurance Alliance, a program of NeighborWorks America, a group created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance and training for community-based revitalization efforts.

Hartford, Conn.-based Travelers said homeowners that are aware of ways to reduce their risks can improve their cost of insurance and reduce their losses.
