David J. Rioux has joined Claims' Editorial Advisory Board, effective immediately. Rioux oversees the Corporate Security Department for Erie Insurance and is responsible for administration of Erie's fraud program and all company internal and external investigations. The Corporate Security Department includes Internal Affairs, Claims Special Investigations, Desktop Investigations and the Case Intelligence Unit.

Rioux's experience spans more than 25 years in the area of investigations. His prior career was in law enforcement as a police officer, detective, and fire inspector. He has worked in the insurance industry fraud and abuse field for more than 18 years. He has held many positions with increasing responsibility as insurance fraud investigator, claim manager, special investigations unit manager, corporate administration manager, and business technology consultant, where he is responsible for managing, researching and developing insurance anti-fraud technology solutions.

Rioux is a leading advocate for taking a preemptive strike against fraud through innovative business practices and technology. He is active in the insurance industry as a member of the fraud subcommittee for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America; member of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud's public information committee; on the board of directors of the International Association of Special Investigation Units; instructor for the National Insurance Crime Bureau's fraud training academy; and founder and past president of the Connecticut Association of Auto Theft and Arson Investigators. He also has earned his Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) designation.
