Besides having jaw-dropping good looks, the Ferrari Enzo has been billed as the ultimate street machine because it does not require a Formula One license to handle, and it can hit 60 mph in less than four seconds. It's also one of the rarest sports cars ever made because less than 400 were manufactured between 2002 and 2004, making it virtually irreplaceable.

Someone forgot to mention that information to film star Eddie Griffin before he took a seat behind the wheel of an Enzo last month. The actor, who has been seen in movies such as Undercover Brother, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and Norbit, crashed the dream car into a concrete embankment while practicing for a charity race to promote his film, Redline (The film opened in April).

Reports indicated that Griffin approached a turn too fast while driving on the Irwindale Speedway race track in California, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Although Griffin sustained no injuries, the car wasn't as lucky. According to Lance Coren, certified auto appraiser, the wreck caused up to $340,000 in damages, and post-crash photos showed severe damage to the front of the $1.5 million car. Conspiracy theorists speculated on whether the crash was a publicity stunt, but that theory has yet to be proven.

There is no word on which company insured the Ferrari, but according to an insurance quote obtained from exotic car insurer Classic Auto Insurance, a 2004 Enzo that is driven less than 1,000 miles annually in California and carries minimum liability coverage and a $500 deductible would cost approximately $19,000 a year to insure.

Redline's executive producer, Daniel Sadek, owned the car and his exotic car collection appeared in the movie. Let's hope he was up to date on his policy payments.
