The destination is Arizona for two annual captive conferences--the Captive Insurance Companies Association in March, and the Arizona Captive Insurance Association in May.

CICA's 2007 Annual International Conference is scheduled for March 11-13 in Tucson, Ariz., at the Westin LaPaloma. Sessions include:

o The Future of Captives.

o Demystifying Reinsurance Pricing.

o Healthcare Captives.

Speaking at the opening general session will be Helen Thomas, once one of the top reporters covering the White House. Other speakers include:

o Ernst Csiszar, former president of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, and once South Carolina's insurance commissioner.

o Mark W. Hinkley, executive vice president, marketing and communications, at OdysseyRe.

o Mark Jablonowski, an analyst at Conning Research & Consulting.

o D. Hugh Rosenbaum, a longtime captive expert and former principal at Tillinghast.

The AzCIA conference--with a theme of "Take Control of Your Own Destiny"--will take place on May 15-17 in Phoenix, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. The keynoter will be captive expert Andrew Barile.

Over 200 attendees are expected--half from Arizona and half from other areas of the United States. The conference includes educational sessions and opportunities for networking, such as a private captive owners' roundtable luncheon.
