Celine Herweijer has been named by Risk Management Solutions to the new position of principal scientist, future climate.

The company said her role reflects a commitment by RMS to explore the evaluation of future climate risk for today's economic, business and political decisions, said Chief Executive Officer Hemant Shah.

The Newark, Calif.-based catastrophe modeler is making this announcement in advance of the publication tomorrow of a report on the current state of knowledge in climate change science, prepared by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The report is expected to address the accumulating evidence and resounding consensus among scientists that the Earth's climate is changing in response to increases in greenhouse gas emissions from human activities.
