Claims News Service, Jan. 23, 12:19 p.m. EST- A release from the California Department of Insurance (CDOI) stated the new California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner has issued an emergency declaration to help bring out-of-state adjusters to the agricultural community’s aid.

The announcement allows adjusters from across the country to help California accommodate for the overwhelming number of crop and pending insurance claims. California’s crops have suffered greatly after recent sub-zero temperatures ruined much of the state’s citrus, avocado, and strawberry crops. The CDOI estimates that there may be nearly $1 billion in damages to the state’s agricultural products.
