Sean Dilweg has been appointed Wisconsin insurance commissioner, replacing Jorge Gomez, who announced his resignation last month.
Mr. Dilweg, formerly executive assistant in the Department of Administration, was named to his new post by Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.
In his previous capacity, Mr. Dilweg advised Department of Administration Secretary Stephen Bablitch and Gov. Doyle on legislative and policy matters.
Prior to serving in the administration, the new commissioner worked for Essie Consulting Group. In addition, he was a lead policy advisor for members of the joint committee on finance during three biennial state budgets and was committee clerk for the Senate Committee on Environment and Energy from 1995-2000.
Mr. Dilweg holds a master's in Public Administration from the La Follette Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor's degree from Lawrence University in Appleton. He is a native of Green Bay.
