Harbor Point Limited, one of the reinsurance companies set up in Bermuda last year, today announced it is opening a London office.

Harbor Point Re UK is a representative office of Harbor Point operating subsidiaries Harbor Point Re Limited in Bermuda and Harbor Point Services Inc. in New Jersey, the company said.

Trevor G. Carvey has been appointed managing director of Harbor Point Re UK. Mr. Carvey, who has a track record as a global marine and energy underwriter, will be responsible for identifying a broad range of opportunities for the Harbor Point group, including marine and energy risks, according to the company.

Mr. Carvey has more than 25 years of reinsurance industry experience, most recently having served as chief underwriter, Marine and Energy, for Arch Reinsurance Ltd.

Harbor Point Re UK is located in Lloyd's Building--Gallery 4, Lime Street, London.

Harbor Point Limited, based in Bermuda, is a global property-casualty reinsurance company which offers a broad range of diversified reinsurance products.

Unlike other Bermuda start-ups launched in the last year, Harbor Point, which took on the former Chubb Re book, writes a large book of casualty business, while other start-ups focus on short-tail reinsurance business, the company said.
