Joseph J. Beneducci has been named chief executive officer of Novato, Cal.-based Fireman's Fund Insurance Company after the promotion of Charles "Chuck" Kavitsky to president of Allianz of America. Both appointments become effective Jan. 1.

Mr. Beneducci previously served as president and chief operating officer of Fireman's Fund, a subsidiary of the German-based Allianz Group.

Prior to assuming the role of president and chief operating officer in February 2006, Mr. Beneducci held a number of key executive positions including executive vice president and chief administrative officer, and senior vice president in the company's commercial business unit. He joined Fireman's Fund in 1998 after a 10-year career at Chubb.

In his new position, Mr. Kavitsky will be responsible for both Fireman's Fund and Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. He reports to Allianz of America chief executive Jan R. Carendi.

A spokeswoman said by e-mail that Mr. Beneducci will keep the title of president, but the COO position will not be replaced.
