Wyman, Green & Blalock Inc. insurance agency, a fixture in Bradenton for nearly 100 years, is being bought by BB&T Insurance Services, the nation's seventh largest insurance broker. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close this month, were not disclosed.

Founded in 1908, Wyman, Green specializes in personal and commercial property insurance, liability risk management, and employee benefits. The agency will keep its staff and continue to operate from its offices in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch as BB&T-Wyman, Green & Blalock.

Wyman, Green President Greg Bustle and Vice President Corky Taylor will continue to handle business development and client relationships. John Laurie, the business's chief operating officer, will serve as agency manager.

BB&T Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of Branch Banking and Trust Co., more commonly known as BB&T. The 84-year-old banking company operates 81 insurance agencies in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. It has about $118.5 billion in assets, making it the nation's ninth largest financial holding company.
