AvMed Health Plans has announced it is expanding into Groveland, Clermont and Montverde in southern Lake County. AvMed coverage will be available to businesses with more than 50 eligible employees.
AvMed is a Florida-only, not-for-profit health plan that offers a wide range of products that provide easy access to a large network of doctors, medical specialists, and hospitals. These include AvMed Open Access, which allows members to see any doctor or specialist they want without referral; AvMed Choice, a point-of-service plan that allows a member to use any doctor or hospital anywhere in the United States without a referral; and AvMed Consumer, which are open-access and Choice plans that are compatible with Health Savings Accounts and Health Reimbursement Accounts.
AvMed has been in the Orlando market for many years, but decided to expand into the southern portions of Lake County because of its rapid growth and expanding job market.
