Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, a Boston-based auto insurer, said it plans to give insureds a discount on their car insurance if they contribute to a local public radio station.
The company said it has partnered with WBUR, Boston's National Public Radio network affiliate, to offer a special, discounted auto insurance rate to WBUR's Massachusetts members.
Listeners who contribute $60 or more to WBUR will receive a WBUR Member Card that entitles them to benefits, including a 10 percent discount on auto insurance with Plymouth Rock. The discount is available through all Plymouth Rock agents in Massachusetts.
“WBUR members share our view that the station provides an essential public service through its in-depth coverage of news and issues,” said Hal Belodoff, the company's president in a statement. “Now the contribution listeners provide to WBUR also delivers a tangible benefit in return.”
Plymouth Rock is the flagship carrier of The Plymouth Rock Group of Companies, which writes and manages more than $1 billion in auto and homeowners insurance across the Northeast.
