The Insurance Accounting & Systems Association said former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will give the keynote speech at its annual meeting next year.
Scheduled for June 4, 2007, in Minneapolis, the IASA Annual Educational Conference & Business Show will offer continuing professional education credits for nearly 70 sessions in topic areas concerning property-casualty, reinsurance and life-health companies.
IASA said over 200 exhibitors and solution providers are expected to be on hand.
Steve Meziere, president of IASA and president of Life of America Insurance Company, commented, “We have a very powerful theme for next year–Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow–and Gen. Powell certainly embodies much of what we are striving to convey.”
Mr. Powell was secretary of state in the George W. Bush administration. Prior to being named secretary he served as a key aide to the secretary of defense and as national security advisor to President Reagan. He served for 35 years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of four-star general and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Gen. Powell is currently a limited partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a California venture capital firm.
Online registration for the IASA Annual Educational Conference & Business Show will begin in early January. Conference details are obtainable through the IASA Web site at www.iasa.org, or Margaret McKeon, IASA conference director, at 636-978-9328 or [email protected].
