SunGard has acquired Signix, an identity authentication, digital signature and workflow solution provider that helps companies transform paper-intensive approvals to digital processes. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, but it is not expected to have a material impact on SunGard's financial results.
Signix's solution works with customers online to obtain legal digital signatures on required documents. The technology helps customers identify themselves in a personal or business capacity, represent their level of authority on behalf of businesses, commit to legally binding contracts, verify the integrity of a signer or a signed document, and automate the distribution of the signed business document.
"Obtaining signatures online with Signix helps financial companies expedite customer transactions, reduce overnight delivery costs, and lessen the security risks associated with e-mailing, faxing, and mailing documents," says Don Mackanos, president of SunGard's Omni and Relius business units. "While it is especially effective for remote parties, it is also a valuable service for busy local customers who cannot be physically present to finalize agreements."
