Insurity, a national provider of business-processing services and technology to the property-casualty insurance industry, has named Jerry Markland to the position of chief technology architect.
Mr. Markland has 25 years of experience as an executive, enterprise architect and system engineer working in the design and development of software tools for the insurance industry, said Hartford-based Insurity.
He previously served as chief technology officer with Benefits Technology Group (BTG), where he was responsible for strategy and product development of human resources and benefits-related technology for brokers and general agencies, said Insurity.
The company said Mr. Markland designed and built an information infrastructure to support BTG's product development and consulting organization.
Mr. Markland also was a co-founder and CTO of StarNex, a company that linked brokers and insurance companies online, Insurity said. He previously held positions with AMS and StarSolutions, designing and developing various insurance processing software applications. His projects included rating systems and Web-based systems for life, health and property-casualty businesses.
A ChoicePoint company, Insurity employs more than 400 technology and insurance experts in Connecticut, New York, Georgia and Minnesota.
