While commercial insurance buyers agree that their renewal processes are smoother and more transparent than before Eliot Spitzer's broker investigations, some feel that with mounting paperwork and the broker migration, the bumpy ride is not yet over.
"The experiences we've been through have been positive for the industry in several ways," said Ellen Vinck, past president of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc., who spoke in her capacity as vice president, risk management and benefits with BAE Systems Ship Repair in San Diego, Calif.
"There is a price to pay for it," however, she said, "which is a lot of the paperwork associated with transparency and having to sign off for certain things when going out into the market."
