Clive James has been named group managing director of Aon Insurance Managers Global (AIM), the captive management division of Aon Captive Services Group.

Mr. James will oversee growth and development of AIM, which is a subsidiary of the Chicago-based Aon insurance brokerage. Aon said AIM has over 1,350 captives, 250 cells and a staff of 500, managing an annual premium income of $20 billion and assets of $50 billion.

Mr. James was responsible for AIM's operations in Europe and Asia and has 18 years' experience within captive management at Aon. The company said he helped to drive expansion of the business from 10 offices to 29 locations and to grow its client base tenfold, from 150 to 1500.
