BISYS Commercial Insurance Services said it has separately acquired a professional liability insurance broker and an environmental insurance brokerage services firm. Terms of both deals were not released.
Yesterday, BISYS said it acquired Livingston, N.J.-based David A. Ratner Associates and D&O Concepts, its wholesale affiliate.
BISYS Commercial--a subsidiary of outsourcing solution provider BISYS Group Inc., based in Roseland, N.J.--said the move gives clients of its wholesale brokerage arm, Tri-City Brokerage, access to Ratner Associates' exclusive arrangement as a managing general agent for its lawyers professional liability program, currently available in New York and New Jersey.
D&O Concepts brings extensive wholesale expertise in placing directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, lawyers professional liability, miscellaneous professional liability, fiduciary liability, and crime/kidnap and ransom insurance.
John Jennings, president of Tri-City Brokerage, said the purchase brings Tri-City a new level of expertise in the professional liability space.
D&O Concepts was established in 1989, and Ratner Associates was established in 1995. The firm totals 11 employees. David Ratner, principal and president of both operations, brings 25 years of D&O liability and professional liability experience to Tri-City.
Today, BISYS said it had acquired JCH Environmental Insurance Brokers, the environmental practice of New York-based JCH Insurance Brokers. JCH Insurance Brokers will still operate its other books of business.
The acquisition allows its commercial services operation to expand its strategy to provide risk management solutions to environmental exposures, the firm said.
JCH has three offices located in Atlanta, Denver and New York. The staff includes attorneys, geologists and engineers--a total of nine employees. The firm's expertise extends to managing environmental risks in the oil, gas and mining industries.
