The following natural-disaster bills have yet to be acted on by Congress:
- H.R. 2668, Policyholder Disaster Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.). Would permit insurers to create tax-free reserve funds for natural disaster claims.
- H.R. 4836, Catastrophic Savings Account Act, introduced by Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.). Would create tax-free, personal catastrophic savings accounts.
- H.R. 4366, Homeowners' Insurance Protection Act of 2005, introduced by Reps. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-Fla.) and Clay Shaw (R-Fla.). Would make state catastrophe funds eligible for federal reinsurance.
- H.R. 4507, Natural Catastrophe Insurance Act of 2005, offered by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.). Would establish a federal program to provide reinsurance for state natural disaster insurance programs.
