The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies has completed construction of its data center and document production facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. Over the coming months, Progressive will install the systems required to supply uninterrupted service to the more than 13.5 million drivers the carrier insures.

The company broke ground on the two-building, 175,000-square-foot project in June 2005. About 140 people are expected to be employed there–39 are on board today, and more than 60 IT openings are slated to be filled by year-end. Current plans include hiring more than 40 additional people in 2007.

"These jobs are critical to delivering on our customer service commitment," says Progressive CIO Ray Voelker. "This center and its people further ensure our ability to deliver on that commitment."
