BEA Systems, Inc., an enterprise infrastructure software developer, has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Prima Solutions to help accelerate the adoption of service-oriented architectures (SOA) in the insurance industry. The two companies already have integrated Prima IBCS, Prima's insurance reference model, with the BEA WebLogic Platform. They also are working to integrate this object model with the BEA AquaLogic suite of SOA products. BEA AquaLogic is a cross-platform product family optimized for composing, orchestrating, securing, and managing SOA throughout the enterprise.

Prima IBCS is an extensive insurance object model covering most insurance domain areas. It is the result of several years of R&D by insurance experts and object-oriented specialists and documents more than 100 core processes and 1,000 classes spanning life (group and individual), property/casualty, and reinsurance as well as new business, underwriting, contract life-cycle management, and claims processing. By integrating Prima IBCS with the BEA AquaLogic suite, insurers will be able to accelerate the deployment of new composite applications while leveraging existing infrastructure.
