If an agreement proceeds as planned, most of the 120,000 Allstate Floridian policyholders who will not be offered renewal as their current policies expire will be offered homeowners' coverage from new-to-Florida Royal Palm Insurance.

Allstate Floridian announced in late May that, as of November, Royal Palm will provide property insurance options through the more than 900 Allstate agencies across Florida. Royal Palm's president is former Florida Sen. Locke Burt.

Allstate Floridian also said it no longer intends to renew its smaller property lines — landlord package policies, residential fire policies, and manufactured home policies — following the 2006 hurricane season.
