Peter L. Miller has been named president and chief executive officer of the American Institute for CPCU and the Insurance Institute of America, the institutes announced.

Mr. Miller, who begins his new role July 1, is currently pursuing the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.

The new CEO had been serving in the post on an acting basis since Terrie Troxel retired in October 2005.

Shortly after joining the institutes in 1992, Mr. Miller became vice president of information systems. He was named a senior vice president in 1998, at which time he was appointed to the institutes' Executive Council.

In 2002, Mr. Miller was appointed executive vice president with responsibility for the full range of the institutes' business functions and executive education activities.
