Insurers certainly took notice when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently announced that the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to be worse than average. However, before accelerating the pace of nonrenewals in coastal areas, carriers might find it worthwhile to review a "MarketStance" analysis of risks in each hurricane-sensitive state, and to develop state-specific strategies based upon each area's actual conditions.
