A large number of risk managers surveyed view terrorism as a top threat in general–but many still rate it as a lower risk for their own companies if they don't believe their firms to be likely targets, a show of hands here demonstrated.
Christopher A. Duncan, managing director with Marsh USA in Atlanta, listed this finding as one of the surprises of his firm's survey report–"Excellence in Risk Management III, The State of Risk Management."
The survey, conducted by Marsh, polled 866 members of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, from midsize to large organizations, between December 2005 and January 2006. The findings were released at the RIMS conference here last month.
