E-Therm, an environmental remediation company, has developed a heat process called ThermaPure, which aids in the remediation of mold growth in buildings and residences. Instead of using traditional demolition-based remediation, the process superheats air to disinfect, decontaminate, and dry out buildings.

The process uses propane-powered portable heaters and air blowers to inject dehumidified air into affected spaces, raising the temperature up 160 degrees for several days. It also dries out wet buildings faster than simple air movement and dehumidification.

"It is a new application of an old idea — pasteurization," said Dave Hedman, CEO of E-Therm. "It is an elegant, simple process that allows us to kill mold, fungi, bacteria, and insects very quickly without using chemicals. It allows us to manage mold in place rather than tearing the structure down to get at the mold."
