How to pay the lowest price for insurance, get the best possible terms from insurers, and reduce the number and size of claims will be topics at an upcoming Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. workshop, the group said.

The session titled “Minimizing Insurance and Claims Costs” is scheduled for March 23-24, at the RIMS Office in New York.

RIMS said participants will learn how to get more insurers competing for their business and how to stand out to an insurer as an exceptional risk.

They will also see how they are viewed by insurers, determine the optimal deductible for maximum savings, and more, according to RIMS.

The course is designed for first-time risk managers, business owners or managers, insurance administrators, and anyone requiring knowledge of the inner workings of insurance companies, RIMS said.

The course instructor is Craig Rowe, author of the book, “Insurance Premiums Are Killing My Business: Controlling Insurance and Claims Costs for Small to Mid-sized Business.” Mr. Rowe is president of Canadian Risk Intervention Inc., a private sector organization.

The course fee is $495 for RIMS deputy members and associates, and $795 for nonmembers. Details and registration information are online at www.RIMS.org/mininsnyc.
