E-Signatures

Chubb System's Electronic Applications No Longer “Wet”

Applications for professional and management liability insurance products from the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies now can be submitted entirely online with an electronic signature. Previously, the carrier's eApplications required a so-called wet signature before a policy could be bound.

“The launch of our new electronic signature capability is another step in making it even easier to do business with Chubb,” says Judy Cook, vice president, Chubb & Son, and e-business manager, Chubb Specialty Insurance. “We've eliminated the need to send a signed hard copy of the application through the mail.”

The Chubb policy application process for these products currently is completely electronic, Cook explains. “This will help speed up the application process for our customers, agents, and brokers,” she says.

The Chubb eApplications are available at the carrier's Web site, www.chubb.com. The eApplications program is available for 10 professional and management liability products. Six additional professional and management liability products will be added in April 2006.

No password or user ID is required to access the electronic applications, which can be completed and saved on an agent's, broker's, or customer's desktop and e-mailed to Chubb for a quote, according to Cook.

Strengthening Chubb's electronic capabilities is a top priority, indicates Kathleen Tierney, senior vice president, Chubb & Son, and director of strategic marketing, Chubb Specialty Insurance. “The introduction of electronic signatures is the direct result of feedback from our agents, brokers, and customers,” she says. “We've delivered on our promise and remain committed to building further enhancements that will streamline the business process.”
