Boston-based CDS Business Mapping, an online property risk mapping company, announced today that nine states have been added to its routing technology that determines distance to the three closest fire stations.
The company said that, with the addition of Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesoata, Missouri, Nevada, Washington and Wisconsin, it now provides the service for 34 states.
CDS' Distance to Fire Station Report, by RiskMeter Online (www.RiskMeter.com), can be accessed by typing in an address, RiskMeter said.
The online service allows users to get a detailed report that returns drive distance to responding fire stations, names of the stations and staffing.
A once error-prone and time-consuming process can now be done in a matter of seconds, the company said.
“The key to underwriting success is being able to quickly assess risk,” explained James Munson, director of consulting services, CDS Business Mapping. “The Distance to Fire Station Report will immediately guide carriers to decide whether a location is protected or not.
“Regardless of the training, personnel or equipment at a station, if an insured location is greater than five miles from a station, the chance of a large loss is inevitable.”
He continued that the report will quickly verify the distance from local fire stations and more importantly, improve underwriting performance by saving valuable time and money in the early stages of the underwriting process.
