In addition to providing airport patrons with a convenient source of travel insurance, automated insurance vendors are helping to revolutionize insurance buying in rural areas of India. ICICI Lombard was the first to introduce automated insurance kiosks in Chennai, India, according to Manorama Online. The financial service company plans to establish a network of such kiosks across the country.

The insurance kiosk functions almost like an automated teller machine, and customers, particularly travelers, can use it any time for taking out policies in minutes. ICICI Lombard is planning to offer all of its insurance products through the kiosks.

The company also has introduced insurance coverage for school children and college students studying professional courses. In case of accidental death, the student's guardians will receive compensation equal to the tuition fees.
