The Doctors Company (TDC), a physician-owned medical malpractice insurance provider, has acquired Northwest Physicians Mutual Insurance Company (NPM), an Oregon-based medical liability carrier.
Terms of the deal were not released.
TDC said NPM was merged into Northwest Physicians Insurance Company (NPIC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of TDC. NPIC remains the largest medical liability carrier in Oregon.
As a result of the acquisition, TDC has added 2,300 new insured physicians and further expanded its presence in Oregon and the Northwest. The market share of the combined organization has grown to approximately 50 percent in Oregon, TDC said.
