Rodman Fox, formerly Benfield U.S. chief executive officer, will head Hannover Re's U.S. specialty insurance operations as Clarendon Insurance Group CEO, Hannover announced today.
Hannover said Mr. Fox has a 20-year track record of building insurance businesses and is deeply familiar with Clarendon's operations.
The company also announced that Steven Najjar, who has been serving as Clarendon CEO for the past 16 months, has been named CEO of Hannover Finance Inc.
Mr. Fox's unit is Hannover, Germany-based Hannover Re's wholly-owned specialty insurance operation.
Wilhelm Zeller, Hannover Re Group CEO, said that Mr. Fox had been a principal architect in building business for both integrated risk management provider E.W. Blanch and London-based Benfield, a reinsurance and risk intermediary.
Most recently, Mr. Fox helped launch the Benfield corporate risk insurance brokerage business. Prior to joining Benfield, he served as president and chief operating officer of E.W. Blanch Co. a leading integrated risk management provider.
Mr. Zeller said Hannover is committed to “further refining our Clarendon platform and creating a powerful presence in niche specialty lines, which offer compelling growth opportunities. Steve Najjar has been instrumental in setting that course. We value Steve's continued insights and are pleased to have Rod on board.”
Mr. Fox noted he had worked closely with Clarendon for over 15 years. He said the firm has “clear momentum in its specialty initiatives” and he looks forward to “leveraging this platform to capitalize on the clear market opportunities that exist today.”
