Risk Management Solutions has published “Hurricane Katrina: Profile of a Super Cat,” a report summarizing the development of damage from Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans flood, as well as the issues that will determine the final outcome of losses suffered by the insurance industry and others.

The report emphasizes that the devastating effects of Katrina and the subsequent flooding will lead to an increased focus on controlling exposures to other potential “super catastrophes” that can lead to losses on such a scale. RMS anticipates that companies will work with catastrophe modeling firms and internal and industry consultants to develop more accurate analyses and strategies for mitigation.

The report is available on the RMS web site, www.rms.com.
